The Kingdom of Prussian Flag is white with the black Prussian Eagle. The royal crown sits upon the eagle’s head. Prussia became a kingdom in 1701, when Frederick III proclaimed himself king. He was accepted as king by the German Emperor, and Prussia expanded greatly. By 1871 it was almost as large as all the other German states together, and included lands now found within the countries of Denmark, Germany, Belgium, Poland, Czech Republic, Lithuania and Russia. When the German monarchy was overthrown after World War I Prussia became a republic, the Free State of Prussia.
